We are a non-profit social enterprise that makes and donates conservatory-quality string instruments to musicians living in underprivileged communities around the world. We support established music programs with violins to expand the educational experience of their young participants. We are based in New York, London and Cremona, with projects of global reach and impact.
We are established in the US as The Open String, Inc. as a US 501(c)3 not for profit organisation (tax ID number 46-4859877). It runs its operations from New York City and it carries out occasional fundraising, financial and administrative actions as required under US law, as well as collaborating on certain joint activities with The Open String UK.
The Open String is being established in the UK as a charitable incorporated organisation to facilitate the research to develop the production of high-quality instruments and to distribute them to communities in need.
